A gas carrier (or gas tanker) is a ship designed to transport LPG, LNG or liquefied chemical gases in bulk An LNG carrier is a tank ship designed for transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG). As the LNG market grows rapidly, the fleet of LNG carriers continues to experience tremendous growth. The majority of LNG carriers are between 125,000 and 135,000 m3 in capacity. In the modern fleet of LNG carriers, there is an interesting exception concerning ship size. This is the introduction of several smaller ships of between 18,000 and 19,000 m3 having been built in 1994 and later to service the needs of importers of smaller volumes.
Captain Robert Serewa takes us aboard Asia Excellence, one of Chevron’s new liquefied natural gas carriers. Captain Robert Serewa’s affinity for ships started when he was five years old. Maritime careers run in his family; his father is a captain as well. By the time he was 14 years old, he knew the life of a mariner was his future. He has been with Chevron for 11 years Copyright: chevron
An ice-breaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker became the first vessel of its kind to moor at north Russia's Sabetta Port on Thursday, paving the way for transporting oil and liquefied gas along Arctic routes. The first Arc 7 ice-classed LNG carrier, the Christophe de Margerie, docked at the Sabetta Port at 15:00 on Thursday as it continues its maiden test voyage along the Northern Sea Route. The vessel is one of the 15 LNG carriers designed for Russia's Yamal LNG project, one of the world's largest natural LNG development, liquefaction, transportation and sale projects. The Christophe de Margerie is named after the late CEO of French oil corporation Total S.A., who died in a plane crash in Moscow two and a half years ago. The vessel can carry over 170,000 cubic meters of liquefie...

This video is about the safety issues in transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) by ship. It looks at what would have to happen for an LNG ship to be damaged, and a leading global authority weighs in.
The TI Class of supertankers are currently the four largest ships in the world (by displacement, deadweight tonnage ≈ cargo mass, and gross tonnage, a formula value based on internal volume, not mass). The class comprises the ships TI Africa, TI Asia, TI Europe and TI Oceania, where the "TI" refers to the VLCC Tanker Pool operator Tankers International L.L.C. The class were the first ULCCs (ultra-large crude carriers) to be built in 25 years. Compared to the TI Class, the Maersk Triple E class container ships are longer and have a higher cargo volume, including above deck containers. The previous largest ship, the supertanker Seawise Giant, was scrapped in 2010.
